The author goes on to say these statistics help us understand the impact of health on people and work for their betterment. As we monitor the health of a population, we enhance our understanding of strategies to promote its health (Importance, n.d.).

Health planners and government officials are using health statistics and social issues as a guiding framework in formulating healthcare strategies and policy plans.  The social issues in terms of poverty, illiteracy, etc are considered as it affects individual’s accessibility of health care services. Such difficulty in accessing required health care services creates negative impact on health status and provides health statistics accordingly. In other words, it can be said that health statistics is the mirror reflection of the healthcare status prevailing in a society (Eimeren, Engelbrecht & Flagle, 2012).
