The spiritual trauma of White, as depicted in "The Sunset Limited" focuses on the psychological and 
philosophical aspects of mankind. White has been used as a representative description of all men and 
their spirits which have a very different likes and dislikes. The spirit has been shown as highly depressed 
- one for which anti depressants also do not work.  
The play is an allegorical representation of reality and it brings out several aspects that we face in our 
day to day lives without quite understanding and paying attention to it. The very title of the play "The 
Sunset Limited" is allegorical representation of the final journey that we take and then die. White has 
been on such a journey and feels depression because of loss of faith in God.
