Paying for playing football and basketball to the student athletes is a very serious issue. The students and get seriously injured if proper coaching and equipment are not provided to them. The NCAA makes these students practice during the session for long hours. While the football players practices for 43 hours per week the basketball players practices for 39 hours on a weekly basis. Yes, I think the athletes are paid only for the scholarship program which is provided by the school. But these athletes are living a life with poverty. She also suffers from poor nutrition and injuries. As illustrate in the article: "APNewsBreak: More Aid for College Athletes Sought", Alex Padilla who is cu
ently the state senator of California and a Los Angeles Democrat who strategies to introduce the legislation targeted to enhance the support towards these student athletes. He also states that it is due to poor rules of NCAA towards the schools due to which the injured student athletes lose the benefits of scholarships as the schools needs to pay for the injured students’ medical coverage as well as the education support. Even, at times these students are unable to afford the cost of medical bills (Fred Frommer, XXXXXXXXXXI also believe that the amount that NCAA is generating from these college athletes by utilizing the talents of the students while these poor students are deprived of the benefits of getting compensated when it comes for payment of their huge medical bills and personal needs (Mike Branom, 2011).
