The most decisive battle fought in American soil.
The civil war started in April 12 1861 and continued for 4 years to May 9 1865.
Killed more than 620,000 people and left the South America in ruins.
In the middle of the 19th Century when United States was witnessing tremendous growth in economic aspects there existed in equality between the northern states and the southern States. In the north there was manufacturing industry while in the southern States the economy mostly depended upon a system of large scale farming and the labor of those farming were black enslaved people. Thus economic disparity between these two States was one of the i
econcilable differences in the political views. The civil war started in April 12 1861 and continued for 4 years to May 9 1865.

Colonial Period 1607-1775
This period is refe
ed to as the colonial period.
It mostly impacted when a ship a
ived in 1619 in the colony of Virginia ca
ying 20 black Africans as servants.
This incident was the beginning of the darkest practices in the world.
For instance in 1640 and 1652 there were certain laws that supported the trade of slaves. Again in 1671, 2000 to 40000 in evidence of colonial Virginia were imported as slaves. In 1712, there was a New York slave revolt in the city of New York in which 23 enslaved Africans killed around 9 whites. And the rebellion was surprised by killing and torturing thrice the number of whites they attacked. In 1739 another rebellion took place in South Carolina killing 25 white people and 35 to 50 black people. In 1774, for the first time led by James Pemberton, Benjamin Rush and Benjamin Franklin organized the abolitionist society for the abolition of slavery.

American Revolution and the Confederation period, 1776-1787
The declaration of the Independence stated that “all men are created equal that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights that among these are life liberty and the pursuit of happiness”.
The greatest irony in the history was recorded as slavery was legal in the country, stating its declaration that “all men are created equal”.
In 1777 Republic of Vermont prohibited slavery in its constitution. During the same period a law supported by Thomas Jefferson was passed in the Virginian legislature for banning slave trade.
