Infection rates among ICU patients:
Most of the Patients treated in the ICU’s across the world suffer from infections and also acquire new infections which at times becomes very critical and leads to patient mortality. Two out of three patients in such cases are treated with antibiotics or a combination of such medications. The research articles being refereed here from the university library, raises concern about the efforts taken by the medical staffs and the effectiveness to reduce and arrest hospital acquired infections around the globe. The balance between proper treatment of a patient and to keep them safe in the ICU environment tends to be a major challenge for the medical teams across the world. Patients who generally stay for more than 48 hours in the ICU conditions are susceptible for such acquired infections which at time also clash with the major systems in the body functions.
Critical patients are to be treated in the ICU for better recovery but at the same time certain other related infections also arise out of their stay in the ICU environment.
