Introduction
The response plan should include relevant stakeholders in the response, logistics, special considerations as a result of the scenario context (season, location etc), challenges, likely outcomes, conclusions and recommendations for the future (Schaer, 2018).
Rains play an havoc in Mumbai and daily life and routine of the people get shattered in the rainy season. Especially in the month of July/ August, it rains heavily and roads are flooded with water and there is knee-deep water or sometimes up to waist length are accumulated on the road. It is very difficult to walk on the road and vehicles get trapped on the way (Viero, 2018). Engines of the cars/vehicles stop working due to the inflow of water inside them. Passengers get stranded on the road or the vehicles. Even the trains local as well as long route trains stop on the way as the railway tracks immerse in water. In such a situation, the passengers on the train get trapped and Navy personnel to be called to shift the passengers to the safe place by using boats and helicopter. Natural hazards like flood destroy the lives, assets, and economy of the country. People rush to safe places in hue and cry and you will find everywhere chaos. Old people feel helplessness due to their less movability and less support system in old age. Trees are uprooted due to heavy rainfall and pressure of the logged water. Work and business remain standstill and people rush to safe places and try to save their lives. Animal kingdom also suffers. Everyone remain puzzled and think tank tries to solve this problem and
ings out people from this grave situation.
Critical analysis of the disaster scenario
In the modern world of telecommunication and satellite, weather forecasting is possible accurately. The weather satellite sends photographs and pictures of clouds and rains to earth where the meteorological department analyze the photos and send warning signals to relevant people regarding any nature's disaster like thunderstorm, heavy rainfall etc so that safety measures could be taken to evacuate people to safe places. Like in Mumbai, during rainy season generally there is the likelihood of heavy rains which results into flood situation, it is the duty of the stakeholder to evacuate at least the old aged and patients to safe places.
As the Head of the Emergency Response Team, my duties includes proper planning of the flood situation, prompt rescue operation especially of aged people, children, women and patients first, estimation of manpower required which includes army and navy men, various equipment required, number of boats available, services of helicopter available. Financial help, food, drinking water , and medicine etc to affected people. I will monitor a certain small area of flood and explore the various possibilities of the rescue operation. Following steps will be followed by me to control flood situation:
