Assignment Details: The main point of this 2 to 3.5-page paper is to analyze the best practices in healthcare human resources. Students must select a company evaluate their best practices by analyzing their weaknesses and strengths based upon the concepts learned in the course and their own research in one of the following HR areas: 1) recruitment and selection, (2) managing diversity: this might address ethnic diversity or managing a global workforce, (3) aligning the human resource department with organizational goals and objectives, or (4) managing unions in healthcare. Even the best processes could be improved. For example, a company that uses an applicant tracking system might actually be screening out good candidates if they require a candidate to complete too many “qualifying questions” (SHRM, XXXXXXXXXXSeek out the librarians’ help if you are at a loss on which company to review. You may look at your own company, but you will need outside sources and references to achieve a passing grade. The paper must also include at least 3 to 4 complex recommendations for improvement by using scholarly sources and/or other business journals to defend their recommendations. See grade rubric below. All students will need to have their course paper topic approved by the end of week two.

Discuss in detail and state how your selected area of focus (either 1, 2, 3 or 4) affects the organization’s performance (good or bad). You must evaluate 2 to 3 points within your selected area of healthcare human resources. Things to consider:

1. What is the impact your selected area is having on the focus organization?

2. Discuss 2 to 3 best practices to improve the processes. Give examples from other companies or theories and cite the examples.

Grade Rubric 25 Points Total: Submit in Blackboard, Week IV by Saturday Midnight.

1. Technology Process – Must be in Microsoft Word only and name the file per the course outline: Lastname_HCA628_FinalEssayto avoid a 10-point deduction.

2. APA Compliant paper (3pts.) – APA 6th 1) written in third person, 2) APA compliant title page, 3) proper double-spaced, 4) used APA 6th Headings (search APA 6th level headings on the net) to organize work, XXXXXXXXXXmargins 6) references must be used AND cited correctly in the typed text and on the Reference page. No abstract required. Must have all components for max point value.

3. Grammar (6 pts.) – Less than 3 spelling and/or syntax errors, sentences are clear, well-constructed, and not districting from the author’s work, logically organized and mechanics are sound. Written in third person. Must have introduction with thesis sentence and short summary. See common student mistakes handout in BB’ under course resources for help and consider using the writing center.

4. Written Work Content/Organization (16 points):

a. Clearly answered the questions posed and used scholarlyand/or professional journals, such as SHRMto support the recommendations. A simple Wikipediaor Google search will only ensure a low grade.

b. Ideas arranged logically, 2.5 to 3.5 pages, not over 4.0 written pages, (Title and Reference page do not count but are required. No abstract please)

c. Follow the 70-80/30-20 rule in the course outline – a balance of examples/facts and your analysis of ideas and thoughts to come to a conclusion. At least two to three main learning points.

d. Evidence/facts clearly supports best practices in healthcarehuman resources.
