I had been working as a healthcare provider in the local government hospital in my town. Recently, there is a riot in the silent protest at night, situation panics and many people were admitted with major and minor injuries in hospital. During those hours, hospital lacks both supply and staff. There was an urgent need for a large number of oxygen cylinders for some severe cases. To control the situation, one of the junior doctors come forth to take the charge. They manage to a
ange cylinder from private hospitals using their personal relationship. They motivate the entire staff to do the extra effort through their dedication to save every patient, and their personal relationship with them.
Explaining Leadership through Contingency Leadership Theory
The leadership act shown by the junior doctor of the hospital is similar to the traits explained in the contingency theory. As explained by Greenwood, Hinings and Whetten (2014), there is no best way, which helps to lead in all the situation. Junior doctor has taken the stand in the situation where leadership is necessary. There are no born leaders. As suggested by Schmidt and Kolbe (2011), that the contingency theory emphasises more on the leadership style and the situation. The doctor takes a stand and try to ease the situation with its calm and patience. They, along with the entire staffs, work towards saving the life of the people whole night i
espective of all the odds. It was mentioned by McAdam, Miller and McSorley (2016) that the leadership style in contingency is based on the task motivation and relationship motivation.

The explanation of the hospital scenario with the perspective of the contingency theory is a useful one to prove that there is no one leadership style that can be successful in all the situation.
