Students are required to contribute to discussion related to key topics that are posted
online.

Requirements
Discussion topic: 150 – 200 words
You will be required to contribute to an online discussion based on the content
of the lecture of that week or a topic proposed by the lecturer. You are
expected to make one substantial post on each topic. Discussion topics for this
semester include the highlighted ones:
• Share insights of Business benefits of using ERP.
• Describe a ‘Vanilla Implementation’ of ERP and the reasons why a
company would choose to consider a Vanilla Implementation.
• Discussion on Vendor Research and criteria for evaluating vendors for
ERP implementation.

• Analysis of the stabilization process and describe the issues that arise
during stabilization.
• Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) and Business Process
Management (BPM).
• The role of enterprise systems in supporting organisational strategy and
achieving competitive advantage.
• How changing the business from a functional view to a process view
impacts the structure of the organization.
• Discuss the difference between horizontal silos and vertical silos and the
problems associated with information silos.
• Discuss the phases of the traditional ERP life cycle (Scope and
Commitment stage, Analysis & Design stage, Acquisitions and
Development stage, Implementation (Go-Live) stage, Operations stage).
• Discuss the difference between Business Process Re-engineering
(BPR) and Business Process Management (BPM).
Special
consideration
Students whose ability to submit or attend an assessment item is affected by sickness,
misadventure or other circumstances beyond their control, may be eligible for special
consideration. No consideration is given when the condition or event is unrelated to the
student's performance in a component of the assessment, or when it is considered not
to be serious.
