Abstract
Inequality of income has been a problem with most nations, whether developed or developing. Even though developing countries face greater problems in this area, developed nations are not free from it. This can be seen clearly in the increasing levels of inequality in a developed and comparatively well-off country like Australia.
Inequality has been on the rise in Australia. Richardson & Deniss, 2014 reported in their study how inequality has consistently risen and is likely to rise in the coming years. There are several problems that can arise due to this. The country may see increase in poverty, decline in higher education and bias in politics if this trend of inequality continues.
This report recommends that steps be taken to resolve or at least reduce this gap in income between the various sectors of the society. This is possible through thorough efforts from the government.

Even though the country has seen sustainable growth in the short term, the implications of inequality in income for the longer term are always bad.
This paper discusses the problems that inequality in wealth may result in a developed country like Australia. It further explores the possible solutions to this inequality and the steps that can be taken by the government to facilitate these solutions.
Findings
Whiteford, 2017 asserts that the income inequality has risen in the past years with the 'rich becoming richer'. This can be observed in the study published by ABS, 2013 where the Gini coefficient, the most effective form of studying income inequality, shows a steady rise in the later years 2009- 2010.
There are two important drivers of income inequality according to Fletcher &...
