Literature Review
The literature review section in your paper is a well-organized chapter that consists of the different
eferences as they relate to the objectives of your paper. It provides the description covering the
dependent and the independent variables of the research.
You need to include in your review only articles that have a significant relationship to your research
question (s). Be aware, that not all the references you found will be included in the review, some of
them might be used in other chapters of the research paper. The ability to read related literature and
integrate the information into a meaningful thesis is a good indication that the researcher (you)
understands the “research question” subject.
Below is an example of literature review organized under the following heading of a research done on
the “Female Athlete Triad”. Each heading was followed by a paragraph on that topic:
1. Eating Disorders
1.1. Anorexia Nervosa
1.2. Bulimia Nervosa
1.3. Compulsive Overeating
1.4. Eating Disorders in Athletes
1.5. Factor Influencing Eating Disorders
2. Normal Menstrual Cycle
3. Ameno
hea
3.1. Prevalence of Ameno
hea
3.2. Incidence of Ameno
hea in Athletes
3.3. Consequence of Ameno
hea
4. Osteoporosis
4.1. Bone Loss
4.2. Types of Osteoporosis
4.3. Osteoporosis in the Triad
Review the “Developing Research the Research Proposal” presentation (Week #5 module), slides 10-12.
Write the Literature Review section of your research project accordingly. Conclude this written review
with a “concluding statement.” This is the final paragraph where you state what your own study is going
to be, i.e., the research question.
The review should be about 3 pages long, typed (size 12 font, double-spaced and with one inch margins
on top, bottom, left and right), and MUST be submitted as a Word document only. Include 8 – 10
cu
ent (published within the last decade) peer reviewed references, citing and listing them according to
the APA format. Use the Assignment link to submit your work.
