Question 1:
Most Important Ethical Issues in Technology
Introduction
As technology evolves, we look at the ethical issues in information systems today.
Misuse of Personal Information
The main issue is the personal information stored on e-commerce sites, other businesses, etc. How is the privacy of our information preserved? Most businesses mine data, search terms, etc. to give a better user experience and to make money. However, we come across news of information being sold that websites gather from the users.
Misinformation and Deep Fakes
The information published on the internet is manipulated. The elections were biased to gain support for a particular party. There is a lot of fake information related to political parties, cele
ities, movie stars, etc. The Deep Fake technology can be used to manipulate information and publish it across the world.
Lack of Oversight and Acceptance of Responsibility
Many companies specialise in hy
id models. Several processes, like data verification, big data, and cybersecurity, are outsourced to third-party vendors, and nobody takes collective responsibility for user data. There is a global need for laws to ensure the accountability of personal data.
Cyber-crime
This can range from simple online bullying to financial loss and even the death of the person.
Identity theft
Personal information can be compromised by phishing sites, etc.
Click fraud:
This involves the user clicking on ads that rob user data.
Copyright infringement
Unauthorised use and distribution of copied content
Advance Fee Fraud:
The user is asked to pay some money for larger returns.
Hacking:
used to access an unauthorised system via a network and compromise user data.
computer virus:
Viruses are sent to damage confidential data stored on servers.
