Mental illness:
Mental illness or problems exists across the world, in both men and women from all stages of life and from various socio economic strata. Nearly 450 million people across the world is suffering from such mental health illness, including behavioral and substance related disorders. Mental illness is a health condition which has a wide range of patterns related to a person’s mood, thinking and behaviour. Few such cases of mental illness include depression, anxiety and eating disorders, behaviour driven addiction and schizophrenia. Mental illness is caused by various genetic and environmental factors. The inherited traits include when people get it due to heredity and gets it from the pedigree. The acquired traits include prenatal conditions when the mother may be exposed to toxins, effect of certain drugs during pregnancy, effect of alcohol to the womb or may be due to certain other stress or shock. Apart from this mental illness can also be developed due to stressful life style, financial ups and downs, death of someone close, side effects of diabetes or other chronic diseases,

Education is the most important aspect in such cases as it is the key parameter to control the recovery rates of the patients, either through clinical support or through cognitive behaviour working techniques. Education is to mental illness as training is for a job. Learning coping skills, information about medications, treatment options and new research is what prepares you to deal with the inevitable challenges of mental illness. Without education, recovery is a much slower, painstaking process. Moreover, education is also important so that the society takes this type of illness in a positive way and support the patient with compassion and empathy. This type of illness is not a taboo which is to be shrugged off and let the patient be on his or her own. People should extend their arms for such people with mental illness for better well-being.
The perception of the family members, peers and close associates of the patients need to be changed for the greater good. The community perception about such illness is also a major factor to be worked upon. That is why various activities based on the principle of cognitive behaviour aspects is implemented in community awareness programs to combat the wrong perception of the society. The time frame for such programs is also important as the analysis and the take away needs to be evaluated post that.
Introduction:
