Introduction
In the present days, getting a good quality of the sleep is considered as the gift provided by the nature. In this fast and busy life, number of hours implemented by people in sleep is very getting lesser with passing time. People especially teenagers and office goer are implementing the large amount of time in their work or spend on their leisure at the cost of sleeping. Over the period, most of them suffered from poor quality of sleep and the purpose of sleep just ended. Earlier, the meaning of sleep is getting refresh to start the new day. Now, sleep is mere a routine, which people complete every night.
This poor quality of sleep results in lowering the quality of life. Apart from this, it is responsible for the development of many kinds of diseases such as depression and anxiety. There are many methods, which have been developed over the period to improve the quality of sleep. Mindfulness is one of the therapies, which is used to improve the quality. This can be applied in everyday life. This therapy can be applied as an intervention and its impact can be studied. Following assignment applied mindfulness as an intervention on adolescent suffering from the poor quality of sleep.
Target Problem
The target problem is quality of sleep. During the early stages of poor quality of sleep, people fail to pay any serious attention until it takes the serious turn. As mentioned by Quintero et al. (2019), poor quality of sleep is responsible for causing sleep insomnia. Most of the people are suffering from the poor quality of sleep. It has been seen that early signs of poor sleep are often neglected by the people. Some of the people fail to get proper diagnosis of their issue until their insomnia is worsened. As stated by Albertsdottir, Sigurdardottir and Thorleifsdottir (2019), early signs of poor quality of sleep are ignored very badly.
These signs include taking around thirty minutes in falling asleep after getting into bed. Getting awake more than once every night and take more than twenty minutes in getting back to sleep when awake in the middle. Apart from this, the amount of time spend in sleeping is less than eighty percent of the mentioned hours. As suggested by de Lima and Silva (2018), there are many causes for the poor quality of the sleep.
There are wide range of medical illness, which results into sleep distu
ance and poor quality of sleep. The chronic illness such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, heartburn, mental health problems, musculoskeletal disorders, respiratory problem and thyroid disease are responsible for lowering of quality of sleep. On the contrary, high level of stress and depression also act as main factor for causing poor quality of sleep.
As noted by Wang et al. (2016), it has been seen that poor quality of sleep can have impact on the daily routine of the people. People after the sleep fail to get refresh, there is experiencing of excessive daytime sleepiness. Apart from this, there is lack of energy in people and have difficulty in concentrating. There is a mood and behavior distu
ance among people. People often show aggression, i
itability and impulsive behavior. There is decrease in the concentration and increase in the depression among people.
On the contrary, poor quality of sleep is responsible for developing of troubles in personal and professional relationships. Overall, it reduces the quality of life. As stated by Kolb and Martin (2017), there are internal as well as external factors responsible for the lowering of the quality of sleep. The amount of sleep decreases with the age and other variations that took place over the period.
Other factors, such as eating and drinking, medication and environment also influence the sleeping pattern of the person. These days frequent change in the sleep cycle is responsible for reducing the quality of sleep among people. The long working hours and rotational shifts directly affect the sleep of the people. People who work at night are responsible for the change in the biological cycle of the people. Apart from this, excessive sleepiness and change in the timing of the sleep result into causing poor quality of sleep.
As mentioned by Blafoss et al. (2019), pain and discomfort can limit the depth of sleep and result in a
ief sleep between the periods of awakenings. Since depression and anxiety among the people of all ages is very common. People suffered from these sicknesses have constant difficulty in sleeping. There are certain medications, which prevent people from taking good quality of sleep. It must be noted that at early poor quality of sleep does not seem to be major problem but over the period, it can risk the life of the people and forced the people to consume high dosage of the sleeping pills to take sleep.
Target Population
The target population selected for the study is adolescents. As suggested by Campsen and Buboltz (2017), it has been seen that adolescent needs to have sleep between eight and ten hours every night. Their sleep requirement is higher than any other adult is. On the contrary, in the present times, adolescents get only 6-7 hours of sleep every night, which is getting lesser with every generation. This trend is very risky as poor quality of sleep among the adolescents become common problem. This constant...
