Loneliness can be defined as the negative feeling, which arises in the individual when their social needs are not filled. There are many reasons, which resulted in loneliness. One of the prime reasons is the disease, as it has been seen that the people suffering from the chronic disease often isolate from the society, which resulted into loneliness. On the contrary, loneliness can be observed by anyone temporary in his or her life.
However, some of the people become permanent victims of the loneliness such as older people and people suffering from mental illness. It has been seen that the older people are highly vulnerable towards loneliness as most of them live in isolation and their medical conditions often restricted them to participate actively in the society. It has been the established fact that loneliness mainly due to isolation can have many side effects on the health of the people. It can push these people into depression. Nowadays, depression in the older people is very common and the cases are constant rising. This research tries to analyse the loneliness experienced in older people.

Research Aim
The aim of the project will be to identify the factors resulted in the loneliness in the older people and its impact on their health
Type of the Research
This is the primary research, which will use the mixed approach. In this research, both qualitative method and quantitative method will be used. The data collection will be done using primary research method. As suggested by Sluka (2018), primary research method can be defined as the research method, in which data is collected by conducting the field research. As mentioned by Colorafi and Evans (2016), qualitative research method can be defined as the research method, which is used to gather the non-numerical data and interprets the meaning using the data. As stated by Bryman (2017), quantitative research method can be defined as the research method, which is used to quantify the problem by developing the numerical data or the data, which can be analysed to reach the specific conclusion. It quantifies opinion, attitude and behaviour. This method is considered suitable for the larger population.

It has been the common notion in the society that people who cannot actively participate in the society lose their status and later, they are not remembered by the people who once have given the top-notch importance. As noted by Chung and Park (2019), it has been seen that the society directly or indirectly pushed the older population towards isolation. This research can play the crucial roles in making the policies or taking measures in the society to help the older people.
This research will identify all the factors, which pushed the older people into isolation or developed the feeling of the loneliness in them. On the contrary, this research works in analysing the impact of the loneliness on the health of the older people and the ways, these people respond to it. This research fulfils the knowledge gap on the research on older people.
