Directions for Annotated BibliographyYou will provide an annotated bibliography of 25 references that you plan to use for your research paper.  This must be in APA format, with a cover page and references that each includes a summary, analysis and reflection.  This assignment is due by 12 midnight (EST) on the Sunday of Week 3.A good annotated bibliography: · encourages you to think critically about the content of the works you are using, their place within a field of study, and their relation to your own research and ideas.· proves you have read and understand your sources.· establishes your work as a valid source and you as a competent researcher.An annotated bibliography is a list of sources and includes APA formatted references to the articles, books and resources (all which should have been found through the Liberty University Online Liary)  which one has compiled for a research assignment.  Following each reference is a ief description and an evaluation of the source.  The purpose of an annotated bibliography is to benefit the researcher and provide the content, relevance and quality of the sources. Do NOT simply cut and paste the abstract as the annotation, as they are not the same.  Abstracts are summaries of a source, whereas annotations also include a short summary.  Abstracts include a critical aspect to note the source’s author (why should s/he be considered an expert) and they explain the usefulness of the research being performed.  Along with being an excellent source for APA formatting guidelines, The Owl at Purdue has helpful information regarding annotated bibliographies and also provides helpful examples.  You can expect to keep copies of the annotated bibliography completed for this class, as some of the research may be applicable for research required for other courses.  Having an annotated bibliography ensures that a quick review will help a student determine the applicability of articles previously reviewed to required research.The APA format for an annotated bibliography is as follows:Author Last Name, First Initial. Middle Initial. (year). Name of journal article. Name of Journal is Next,volume(Issue), page numbers.  A ief summary of the article.Assess the article according to the focus of the research and provide criticisms. Who is the author and how are they qualified?  Reflect on the source and how it fits in the topic chosen to research.  Is the source helpful?  Too oad or too naow?  Explain how this research will fit into your research paper.

Introduction
In this discussion on crisis we will try to focus on Hurricane Katrina and will discuss on how Louisiana State University (LSU) prepared them based on the past experiences of similar disasters like Hurricane Gustav to encounter such crisis in a more efficient manner.  Although LSU suffered huge damages mounting upto $12 million due to hurricane Katrina they tried their best to evacuate the people of New Orleans and house them in the athletic facilities (Blum, 2008). As stated by (Meaux, 2008) the classes were cancelled only for a week but still the analysts of LSU were working on the process of recovery from the hurricanes and storms. (Laufer, 2007 and Rollo & Zdziarski, 2007) states that the planning does not stops the hurricane from approaching the people or the crisis to become less, but helps the people to get time to prepare themselves.  
What is a Crisis? 
(Rosenthal, Uriel and Kouzmin, Alexander, 1989) states that the crisis mostly covered the series of events of 1970s and 1980s like the terrorism of the 70s, Cold War confrontations, natural disasters like Turkish earthquakes and in industries, persistent street conflicts like Brixton riots etc. (Newman, Fox, Harding, Mehta & Roth, 2004) states along with Hurricane Katrina, there were series of crisis like serial and mass killings which occurred in the high school. (Bachar & Devin, 2005) states that the universities located near the coastal region learned a lot after the impacts of hurricanes like Katrina. (Lintonen, Raimo 2000) states about the voices raised by the general public, the concerned authorities and the media for the management of crisis like Chernobyl and Katrina. (Lipka, 2005) states that it was Hurricane Katrina and landfall of Rita which closed the colleges for the longest time in the history. (Fields, 2005) states that the universities destroyed due to Katrina held their classes in other universities which were slightly in better conditions. (Mangan, 2005) stated of a loss of $1.4 billion damages physically and approx a million of loss in tuitions due to hurricane Katrina. 
How to Prepare for Crises
(Rochlin, 2001) states that it’s through the development of technology that the Western countries are able to control the high air traffic accidents in the crowded air space. (Zdziarski, Dunkel, & Rollo, 2007) states that the colleges are re-evaluating themselves on the strategies that should be adopted to battle such natural crisis. (Pearson & Clair, 1988) states that many of the costal universities don’t want to communicate the mistakes they have made while managing the crisis like Hurricane Katrina which results in lack of evidences. (Catullo, 2008) researched on Zdziarski’s study which not only consisted of Hurricane Katrina but a series of events like September 11 terror attack, Rita’s landfall and shooting at Virginia Tech which helped to enhance the crisis strategies for the future. (Henderson, 2005) states that the many of the universities facing such crisis for the first time took their own preparedness and sufficient measurements. (Rosenthal, Boin and Comfort, 2001) states that since the crises are influenced mostly by the future and the past events they must form the part of the analytical process.
