Introduction
It may wonder many that America does not have a single health care system but there are many
subsystems. There are experts who term it as "unsystematic" health care system. The US
healthcare system has more focus towards treatment of insured people rather uninsured. The
government is striving hard to get the PPAC Act passed which will mandate medical insurance for
every American. Today, there are a great number of uninsured people in the country. A cu
ent
debate has come into being regarding quicker access to new diagnostic tests right after approval
from FDA. If the nod comes from federal government, it will increase the quality of life for
Americans. Health care technologies have really improved the treatment and diagnosis of many
diseases (Aiken, L.H., Smith, H.L., and Lake, E.T., 1994). The US government spends billions of
dollars every year on R&D and clinical trials to come up with new health care products but the
people have not been able to reap the benefit of the same. Long-term care and acute care have been
integrated but they heavily depend on social and medical care funding schemes.
A Hospital Administrator
It becomes really challenging for a hospital administrator to make a systematic system out of
unsystematic one. If PPAC Act will be passed, it will make the job of a hospital administrator
eally easy as the number of free treatments will become close to zero. Quicker access to new
technologies would help in making the hospital more efficient. Same way, the expenditure on
R&D and clinical trials would help it treat the patient in a better way. The integration of long-term
and acute care is good but the funding for them is a problem (Aries, N. and Kennedy, L., 1990).
