Q.  the difference between the brake power and indicated power of a petrol engine and a diesel engine 
ANSWER :-
An IC engine WHETHER DIESEL OR PETROL  is  a device which uses the fuel and converts the energy 
of fuel into mechanical.  
Generally by power we mean the rate of work done 
But power can be expressed as product of force and linear velocity or product of torque and angular 
velocity. 
For the torque measurement we have Dynamometer while for the speed there is Tachometer  
The developed power is measure at the output shaft  
And it is called the brake power (bp) and is given by,
