Essay One:Narrative/Descriptive Essay:Tell a nonfiction story that includes descriptions, for example, of people, places, and/or things involved in the narrative. As a model of such an essay, “Fish Cheeks” by Amy Tan in the Bedford Reader is a good example of a finely paced narrative that uses descriptions to excellent effect.

Topic: You may select any topic—within reason -- about which to write. If you have trouble finding a topic, consult pages 115 and 159 in the Bedford Reader.

Length:500 words (two-pages typewritten,double-spaced, preferably in Times New Roman

font, 12-pt.) Do not use italics. The essay does not have to be exactly 500 words in

length, but it should be close to that word count.

Format: Word Document or pdf file.
