Task
Provide short answers to the following questions. The answers should be limited to between 0.5 and 1 page. Follow the presentation instructions and marking criteria below.
Q1) What does the statement "the best interface for a system is no User Interface"? When might this apply and provide two examples.
Q2) Compare the bandwidth, distance, interference rating, cost and security of a) twisted pair cable, b) coaxial cable and 3) fibre optic cable. Use current data, give specific details for at least 3 types of cable within each category, these should have different specifications, rather than simply different brands of the same type.
Q3) The three common ways to obtain information from IoT devices are sensors, RFID and Video tracking. Compare the three technologies by addressing the advantages, disadvantages, key requirements for the things. Provide two applications of each (these applications should NOT be sourced from the textbook). You may use a table to present the material if you wish.
Q4) Discuss the issues associated with security and privacy in the context of the Internet of Things.
Q5) An IoT water level monitoring application requires updates from a sensor periodically, using the command/response paradigm. The application triggers a request every 1s. The round-trip propagation delay between the application and the sensor is 12ms. On average the sensor consumes 3ms to process each request. The application consumes 2ms to send or receive any message. If the application blocks on every request to the sensor, how much of its time budget can be saved by redesigning the application to use the publish/subscribe communication model in lieu of the command/response approach?
Q6) Describe Nielson's Law. How does it relate to Moore's Law? What are the implications for the Internet of Thing?
Rationale
This assessment consists of six questions covers the following learning objectives:
  • be able to explain and demonstrate various components of Internet of Things (IoT);
  • be able to analyse the role and importance of IoT in the modern world;
  • be able to investigate and propose various requirements of IoT for real world applications.
Marking criteria
The assessment will be marked using the following criteria:
Criteria HD DI CR PS
Explain and demonstrate various components of Internet of Things (IoT) In depth use of a good range of relevant literature to address the questions. Clearly defines various components of IoT, with evidence of synthesis of own research and prescribed reading in topics. Evidence of using relevant literature to address the questions. Correctly defines various components of IoT with evidence of synthesising some external readings and prescribed reading in topics. Use of some relevant literature to address the questions. Provides a definition of various components of IoT. Mostly cited the prescribed text. Synthesised concepts learned from topic readings. Limited evidence of using relevant literature to address questions. Provides a definition of various components of IoT but little evidence of linkages or connections to topic readings.
Analyse the role and importance of IoT in the modern world In depth use of relevant literature to address the questions. Demonstrates a high level of information analysis of the role and importance of IoT in the modern world. Evidence of using relevant literature to address the questions. Demonstrate a good level of information analysis of the role and importance of IoT in the modern world. Use of some relevant literature to address the questions. Demonstrates analysis of information around the role and importance of IoT in the modern world. Limited evidence of using relevant literature to address questions. Provides a description and some information around the importance of IoT in the modern world without much analysis.
Investigate and propose various requirements of IoT for real world applications No errors in the material presented, with an in-depth, clear, well-structured explanation of various requirements of IoT for real world applications. No errors in the material presented, with clear, well-structured explanation of various requirements of IoT for real world applications. The material presented was generally clear and well-structured explanation of various requirements of IoT for real world applications. The material was generally presented in a clear manner, however some errors or omission of information impedes understanding of what student is trying to explain in terms of various requirements of IoT for real world applications.
Possible Marks (%) 85 – 100 75 - 84 65 - 74 50 -64
NB All your work must be cited (CSU APA), otherwise up to 100% of marks can be deducted.
Presentation
Your assessment should be submitted in either MS Word or PDF format (PDF usually preserves the formatting, MS Word may not - submit ONLY one). Do not submit your assignment in any other format and also do not submit multiple copies of the assessment. Use A4 page size with Times New Roman/Arial/Calibri font and use font size 11 or 12. Please include a title, your student ID and name with your submission. Your name should also be included as a footnote, with page numbers in your document. The Assignment should be submitted onTurnitin.
References- You MUST use the CSU APA referencing style for all cited material you have used in your work (use in-text citations). You must use primary sources (ie Wikipedia is not acceptable, something you thought up yourself, because you think you know better, is also unacceptable - unless it has been published and peer reviewed, but then it would still need to be cited).

Q1) what does the statement "the best interface for a system is no User Interface"? When
might this apply and provide two examples.
Answer:-
It is true that the best interface for a system is no user interface, because when you have
interface you have to provide instructions to the system. Whether you use graphical user
interface or voice user interface you will have to provide instructions and after your
instruction only system will start working. Imagine a system like smart phone, where you can
see graphical user interface, and to open any application for use, you need to touch on it or
press the button which is based on your model of the phone. But just think if you need
anything and that starts automatically then that can be best system for you. Yes, this is
possible with the help of sensing device.
Example:-
(1) Sensor device, a sensor device can work without user interface.
(2) Screen based application, is the example of No UI application
Q2) Compare the bandwidth, distance, interference rating, cost and security of a) twisted pair
cable, b) coaxial cable and 3) fi
e optic cable. Use cu
ent data, give specific details for at
least 3 types of cable within each category, these should have different specifications, rather
than simply different
ands of the same type.
Answer:-
Bandwidth:-
ï‚· In fi
e optic cable it has capacity of large ca
ying
ï‚· Coaxial cable has bandwidth of 4000 Hz.
ï‚· 16 Mhz is the bandwidth of twisted pair cable
Distance:-
ï‚· In fi
e optic cable signal can be transmitted over long distance also without
strengthened or refreshing it.
Interference rating:-
In fi
e optic cable electromagnetic field is used for transmission. In coaxial cable it has
electrical signal which can be used for sending and receiving of packets.
Cost and security:-
Fi
e optic cable is the cost effective method because in this light is used for transmission.
Coaxial cable is somewhat costly because its cost of making is high in comparison of coaxial...
