Dealing with oil and petroleum leads this company to every kind of hazard as well as health hazards for the workers however, fire due to heat stress or smoking is the major occupational health hazard that the company can face.
Assessment of risk
Since the company is dealing with highly volatile products, which as suggested by Dhillon (2016), is the most hazardous occupation and this is because fire is the major occupation hazard and if something happens, it could be uncontrollable. Even with in the offices where the research and development is going upstream in Perth and Downstream in Melbourne. Therefore, fire is the major occupational health hazard which can within the research and development offices due to numerous causes such as smoking, heat stress or even radiations and this is majorly because the products or the compounds under study are highly volatile and catches fire very easily and moreover, it can be very difficult to control fire caused by them.
Moreover, there are certain legal requirements that need to be fulfilled such availability of fire extinguisher at specified gaps not only in the offices but also in the co
idors and even in the parking areas. Further, workers needs to wear FR clothes which are 100% cotton or wool and do not melt even at high temperatures. Further, as the company deals with numerous business service stations are one of them where smoking is illegal, completely and moreover, it is against the law for the children below 15 to operate petrol pumps. Hence, fire safety is being maintained at every business level that the company deals with.

Fire safety is an issue that needs to be taken care of very seriously and sensitively and this is because fire not only causes damage to the business but also can lead to loss of work force.
