Task

Proceed according to the following instructions.

  • Identify a recent (within the last six (6) months) ethical dilemma or ethically questionable situation relating to ICT that you are familiar with. This situation can be either in the media (for example one you have sourced from a newspaper, or online through social media) or through your workplace.
    • a. If using a workplace example, to maintain confidentiality, do not use real names.
    • b. If you use a media article you must include the link to the media article in the references list of your assignment.
  • Identify the key ethical issues contained in your chosen case and use the three distinct perspectives of applied ethics including professional, philosophical, sociological/descriptive ethics to analyse the ethical issues involved in the case. The word limit should be between XXXXXXXXXXwords. Note: Headings, citations, references and any appendices do not count towards your word limit, but quotations do. At the start of the assignment indicates in brackets the word count of your assignment excluding those items mentioned above.
  • Include a Reference list at the end of your work, in the correct APA referencing style, corresponding to in-text citations. You must include at least THREE (3) quality academic references (one for each ethical perspective) from different sources. Please note that these references are in addition to those provided to you through this subject (for example, you still must reference, Tavani textbook, the Interact subject lecture notes etc BUT these references cannot be used as one of your three quality academic references from different sources). Only include references that have been cited in the body of your assignment and ones that support what you have presented in your assignment.

Assignment 1: Three Distinct Perspectives of Applied Ethics

Word Count:
1. Introduction
At the end of Fe
uary, hackers destroyed Under Armour's MyFitnessPal app, revealing usernames, email addresses and passwords from about 150 million users of the app. The company discovered the intrusion on March 25 and disclosed the news within a week, a warm welcome from a large company. And it seems that Under Armour has done a good job of building its data protection, and hackers cannot access valuable user information such as location, credit card number or date of birth, even if they are swimming in the login credentials. The company even protects the passwords it stores by hashing them, or converting them into incomprehensible strings. But there is one key issue: despite a lot of things, Under Armour admits that it only uses a powerful function called bcrypt to hash some passwords; the rest is protected by a weaker hash scheme called SHA-1, which Has known defects. This means that an attacker may crack some of the stolen passwords and not sell or use them in other online scams. Although this is not the worst data
each in history, it is frustrating that the security of corporate networks is not reliable. Stolen data includes the popular MyFitnessPal mobile app and website account username, email address and encrypted password, Under Armour said in a statement. It stated that the social safety number, license number of driver and payment card information were not compromised. According to SecurityScorecard, this is the biggest data violation this year and one of the top five data so far. "Under Armor works with leading data security companies to help and coordinate their investigations with law enforcement agencies," the company said in a press release. "The company will require MyFitnessPal users to change their passwords and request users to do it right away." The data that is affected includes user names, email addresses, and passwords. The company does not collect insurance or driver license information, and the payment card data is not affected because the company says it collects and stores it separately.
2. Professional Ethics Perspectives
To illustrate what a good professional is and how they should act in their professional practice, it is useful to consider moral norms and ethical references (Byrne, 2015). Regardless of the specific reasons behind the failure of Under Armour, company professionals required to review and review their safety to identify e
ors and defects before the bad actors. Or else, big data violates will not continue and they will be much destructive than they must be. Professionals must quickly take steps to ascertain the extent and nature of the problem. Professionals are functioning with top data security companies to assist with the enquiry. Professionals must notify and coordinate with law enforcement agencies. Broadly speaking, action should be taken to take public action against hackers in nation-states, consistent with the Obama administration's approach to ridding national cybersecurity cases and prosecuting where possible. When refe
ing to a profession, "moral" and "moral theory" are two words that are often used interchangeably. However, here we want to emphasize the differences between them, distinguishing between “ethics” and “moralism” rather than fundamentally distinguishing them. In doing so, we will try to emphasize the complementarity of moral and moral views. Professional ethics focuses attention of Under Armour's on the good: what is good, what kind of benefits each profession has, what kind of outstanding lawyers, doctors, engineers, pharmacists or journalists are working hard to promote. Professional compulsory learning first involves duties and obligations and attempts to clarify the set of norms that each professional must follow (Capps, 2018).
