Introduction
Last 2 decades have reflected a great transition with respect to the mentality as well as acceptance of the marriages between same sexes. Attitude of Americans towards Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) is now much favorable since, 1990s. 2010 has been reported as the time where U.S population supported LGBT for the first time (YouTube, 2010). Since then, the support has exponentially increased and they gained political as well as social support.
Various Viewpoints on LGBT Marriages being legalized
LGBT communities have always faced problems as well as discrimination in society. Compared to other non-LGBT communities, Supreme Court or any other law institution did not imply any policy against LGBT. Therefore, according to Roberts (2016), the persisting discrimination was majorly due to mentality and stereotypes of the society. It was difficult to remove these stereotypes through the enforcement of laws; however, it would be essential to consider that transition of mentality was due to the protests as well as sufferings of the LGBT. Media as well as newspapers reflected the sufferings and this was a major reason behind the transition of mentality. Acceptance of same-sex marriage or LGBT marriage was a major reflection that time can change the mentality as well as psychology (Apnorc, 2019). On June 26, 2015, U.S Supreme court removed every ban that existed on same-sex relationship and it was legalized in all 50 states.
