Social, Economic, and Cultural Determinants
Last week, you read research into the medical causes of infant mortality.
This week, you will study research into the social, economic, and cultural
causes of infant mortality. In 2011, according to the World Health
Organization, the United States infant mortality rates fell behind among modern
nations, such as Cuba, Malaysia, Portugal, and the United Kingdom.
Select and read five articles in peer-reviewed journals of your choice, such
as the American Journal of Epidemiology, Clinical
Epidemiology, or the American Journal of Public Health.
Write a 1-page original summary of each article. In your summary, include the
following:
- The study’s hypothesis or objective
- The study’s methodological approach
- The study’s pertinent findings
- The study’s conclusions
Summarize what you learned about the causes of infant mortality by focusing
on social, economic, and cultural factors, etc. Rank the causes by order of
importance. Conclude your report by listing recommendations of pertinent
strategies of ways to change the status quo and improve the infant mortality
rate.
Present all your work in a 6–7-page Word document formatted in the APA style.
Cite the articles in the correct format.
Name your document as: LastnameFirstInitial_W3_A3.doc. For example, if your
