Even in 2016, there are significant inequalities in the United States, from the education received to a person's health. As a country, we strive for health equity rather than merely health equality. Before "Obamacare," millions of Americans lacked access to affordable health insurance (Abrams,2016). The terrible reality in the United States is that besides heredity, where you live frequently impacts many aspects of your health. When it comes to access to high-quality healthcare, disadvantaged communities in the United States often suffer (Kumar & Kumar Singh,2022).

The many dangers that are now present in the environment may have a variety of consequences on human health, but it is impossible to estimate with any degree of certainty the global burden of illness that these hazards are responsible for. The infrastructure for health surveillance and monitoring is often underdeveloped, making it difficult to estimate the whole population at risk. When it comes to environmental pollution, the connections to health are frequently hazy and obscured by other factors, such social disadvantage and way of life (Hák, Janoušková & Moldan,2016).
According to current estimates, diarrheal illness causes over 1.5 million fatalities in children under the age of five each year, and there are several thousand million bouts of diarrhoea. In impoverished nations, diarrheal illnesses are five to six times more prevalent than in industrialised nations. Poor sanitation and hygiene, as well as the resulting pollution of food and water, are strongly linked to these illnesses. Over a billion people are thought to lack access to better water supplies, while over 2.5 billion people need access to better sanitation. Approximately 20 nations, especially in Africa, lack adequate sanitation for at least 75 percent of the population today (World Health Organization,2013). 
In poor nations where the burning of biomass and the use of fuels like coal and kerosene for cooking and heating still prevalent, people may be exposed to high levels of air pollution. Sub-Saharan Africa, China, and India are examples of this in particular. In fact, the vast majority of the approximately three million air pollution-related fatalities that occur annually globally occur in developing nations, mostly as a result of indoor air pollution linked to the use of home fuels (Abrams,2016).
Acute respiratory infections kill more than four million people annually and are responsible for over 8% of the world's disease burden, making them the top cause of mortality in youngsters under the age of five. An key risk factor in this respect is the interior environment, notably the pollution caused by home fuel burning and congestion (Henley et al,2020). 
Other illnesses with environmental origins that impact a lot of people are prevalent. For instance, over a million people die each year from malaria, which affects hundreds of millions of people, and over a billion people have intestinal parasite infections. The creation of comprehensive environmental and health policies and plans has advanced significantly in recent years, but it is also true that many nations across the whole world have been rather sluggish to do so. This has been caused in part by the fact that there are numerous knowledge gaps and a sense of insufficient supporting evidence (de Wee & Asmah-Andoh,2022). It is also because addressing policy demands with regard to new and enlarged areas like energy, agriculture, industrialisation, and modern technology presents very substantial difficulties to the health sector. However, the importance of the health sector in ensuring that the policies and plans of diverse sectors and organisations have a good impact is becoming more widely recognised. 
Due to their inability to buy automobiles, these impoverished populations sometimes reside in food deserts and/or near grocery shops. Being in a food desert prevents you from accessing fresh fruit and other foods that are better for you to consume than fast food since it is more convenient and less expensive (Abrams,2016). Medical facilities in certain underprivileged places offer some free treatments, but not all medical diseases can be treated there. Many families are forced to leave their communities and, in some cases, the city as low-income districts gentrify. 
Healthy People was established to address every aspect of health equity, from food safety to access to medical care. Healthy People identifies the components of health that need the most improvement.
