Some Issues in Nursing Education and Practice with Communication Skills
The hierarchical nature of health care is an obstacle to assertive communication and the importance of communication skills. Metcalfe (1998), in his study of the endowment gap in the health policy, showed how top civil standing and empire in the context of health are limited by occupational position. According to the Audit Commission (1993), power imbalances caused by the hierarchical structure of the NHS are committed to lousy interaction between staff and patients. Attendants have limited authority and reputation in the health system, according to Hewison (1995), and they respond by exercising power and more excellent quality over inmates. Adamson et al. (1995), the entanglements of this hierarchical formation include shallow job well-being and low self-conceit in care due to the perception of state and power imbalances. Wilson Barnett et al. (1995) further stated that the formation of the health system prevents students and nurses from using communicative competence in practice. It is doubtful that nurses, even if they have received exceptional training in communication skills, can put that education into clientele and provide to the patient's happiness when doctors and managers require interaction buildings.
