ABSTRACT As organizations look to improve overall systems to reduce costs and improve
throughput, lean principles are being more widely implemented. These lean initiatives began in
manufacturing, but have spread through other parts of the economy, including health care. This
paper reports on a value stream mapping project in a small medical clinic that resulted in
recommendations that would signi?cantly lower patient wait time and increase patient

Most of the healthcare organizations are using different methods and strategies for managing the 
issues faced by the patients. It is the duty of the healthcare organizations to provide quality 
services to the people. With the help of value stream mapping we can able to reduce the cost and 
we can improve the quality of services. While analyzing the published paper “Process 
improvement through Value Stream mapping” we can understand that it is better for the 
organization to use Value Stream mapping for lowering patient wait time and for improving the
