There is a high number of English language learners and students with special needs. Student absenteeism and dropouts are significant, and the high school graduation rate is below the state average. While there is a stable teacher workforce, the majority of teachers have less than 5 years of professional experience. Overall, students perform average on state and local assessment; however, marginalized student groups’ performance remains below proficiency. Your board has charged you with moving all student groups to proficiency, at a minimum, on all assessment measures within the next 2 years.
