· Which folktale has influenced how you think and relate to others as a child, adolescent, or even young adult?
I think of the text refe
ing to Cinderella’s situational behavior and it reminds me of feeling like I was a Cinderellla of my family just because I have to do chores and I happen to have a mean mom and older sister. Not step but mean and even cruel. I seemed to always want to watch different fairy tales made into cartoons by disney and imagine one day I too would be taken away.
·
· What lessons or influence did the story have on you?
I remember my expectations of a man were very far fetched, tall handsome and prince type. I remember as a little girl daydreaming of possible future situations.
After I grew a bit the tales that changed my behavior were scary stories. Has anyone heard of bloody Mary in the mi
or? You say her name three times in a dark restroom in front of the mi
or and then she will be there when you turn on the lights. There wasn’t much said about after she appeared but it still made me never want to be in a dark restroom and would run to bed after turning out the light. I bet it was also because my older siblings would use it to scare me.
· Explain your answer with an example.
Being so young and having a hard childhood made it easy for me to run away in my head to these made up scenarios based on what I was watching on tv. The music they pair with the scenes of happiness or sadness stick in a kid's mind and can make them act based on what they felt from it.
I believe I was only afraid because of the thought of bloody Mary coming to get me that made me run from the restroom and avoid a dark restroom.
· Is there a question, related to social psychology, that you would like to have answered by research? State the question and describe the steps you would take to answer your question.
Does seeing or hearing violent movies, songs, games, etc. make a person more violent?
I would create a hypothesis, choose a research strategy, perform the research and collect data, analyze the data, find a conclusion and if I needed I could perform a replication study.

Hello Everyone,
This was a great question to think about since I have been su
ounded by movies, television, and stories that I know have made some type of impact with how I ca
y myself as a person. The one folktale that I has stuck with since a child was the tale of the the Fox and the Stork. This one was very relevant to me because the conclusion to that story is to treat others as you would like to be treated. This idea was very influential to the way I deal with others in social and professional settings. For example, when I am driving and someone is trying to get into my lane I let them in because I would like someone to help me out in the same way. I even use this to outline my overall life and it can help me not to get involved with people that do not treat me in a respectful way.
In the world of a variety of different personalities and cultures it can seem that we all come from a different planet, but what
ings different people together? And for that fact, when do people help out each other the most? Research can be developed by taking record of voluteering or donations when there is an emergency for a country versus donations and volunteering on a regular basis.
Thank you,
Nina C
