For this assessment you are required to research the current literature on evidence-based and evidence-informed practice from journals, books, online publications or refereed conference proceedings published within the last five years. You should refer to course readings but also extend your search to a wider selection of academic and practitioner literature.

- What types of educational organisations or programs are involved?
- What are the issues in using evidence-based practice?
- To what extent do the articles contribute to an understanding of education-informed practice in educational settings?
- What educational or learning processes are involved?
- Can you identify any relevance for different types of educational setting from any or all of these articles?
- The literature review should describe each article briefly and include full referencing including author, date, place of publication, journal number, page numbers etc.
- However the assignment will be marked on your ability to analyse, compare and contrast the five chosen articles rather than simply describe their content.

In most societies, education is increasingly required to do more and more with ever higher standards and more and more responsibility and limited resources. Its agenda is often driven by political ideology, traditional wisdom, folklore and wishful thinking, as it strives to meet the needs and interests of the economy, business, employers, law and order, civil society, parents, and at least in words. What types of educational programs or organizations are involved?
According to study done by Cooper, Levin & Campbell in 2009 with the expedition of knowledge management (KM) various new degree programs related to KM is being offered with the creation of new journals. In order to create international coalition based on research use, various programs have been developed by European Commission (Cooper, Levin & Campbell 2009). This is because the European community has been prioritizing practice and evidence based policy. The NORFACE (New Opportunities for Research Funding Co-operation in Europe) consist of several social sciences research councils. It has also a
anged international seminar series whose aim is to utilize evidence and research in policy process. The EUNEC (European Network of Education Council) allows education councils of Europe to collaborate on educational practice and policy. Organizations such as World Bank and Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) have also focussed on research mobilization issues. According to study done by Hempenstall 2006, the Australian Council for Educational Research is assessing practices and policies in pre-service teacher development and training programs (Hempenstall 2006). As stated by (Hessels & van Lente 2008), the German research group known as ‘Starnbergers’ developed exploring program in 1970’s on science dynamics. It consisted of various case studies related to scientific disciplines (Hessels & van Lente 2008). Various government initiated programs also accelerated industry-university interactions. According to Davies, University of Oxford Master’s Program in evidence based healthcare gives view of education based on evidence (Davies 1999).
What are the issues in using evidence-based practice?
According to (Cooper, Levin & Campbell 2009), a variety of issues are raised by the critics. The main concern being the criteria used to determine the evidence. Issues are also concerned with the view that the evidence will be used to replace experience and professional judgement while other are that the proponents of evidence might have a restricted view. Another concern is; significant balance between local context and large scale evidence, complexities and diversities. Many other lament that the research language and evidence are commonly political plan of action that give impression of objectivity, command and legitimacy to the choices of policy. Issue associated with knowledge mobilization concept is; with the little empirical evidence on issues, the field of KM is atrociously conceptualized. Also problem is concerned with lack of good research tools. Moreover, very little assessment is being made of these efforts which results in not knowing particularly which of them has good effect. According to Davies study done in 1999 crucial issues in developing evidence based healthcare or education is the unpredictability in evidence (Davies 1999).
