Introduction
Group facilitator is a critical position within a group. A group facilitator’s sole responsibility is to help the group member’s progress through a certain process. This written report is conducted to reflect upon the facilitation style that I have taken to lead and help group’s members to step forward and complete their tasks as a united team. The facilitation styles and leadership styles that I have found evidence to facilitate the group are discussed below for further references.
Analysis of Facilitation Style and Content
There are different types of facilitation styles. The groups that have been assigned to me for the proper facilitation needed a particular facilitation style. To do so, I have adopted the directive facilitation style. The directive facilitation style has helped me to instruct and inform the whole group for their upcoming responsibilities. As a part of effective group work theory, the group members need to know and understand the rules and information related to the task they are assigned. The directive facilitator theory properly supports this theory. Through providing the proper instructions and information, the conflicts and confusions amongst the groups can be navigated. In this way, I, as a facilitator can also participate in the different content development associated with the group, which is mandatory for helping out the members of the groups (SCHUTTPELZ, 2016). The stage where the group stands seeks the proper help and decision-making approaches, which, as a directive facilitator, I was able to work on. The directive facilitative style is effective for its unique strategies and characteristics for both the group and the facilitator. There are no scopes for the communication gap or the disrupted flow of information in this style, which is helpful for the ascension of the group in a specific context.
