In creating a USB charger it's almost uses 9V batteries and 7805 (5V regulator) and by combining these
two, the design works very well. So now coming to 9V batteries, it doesn't have much of amp-hrs, i.e.
how much cu
ent its supply and for how long. The disadvantage is that it doesn't supply much of
cu
ent because it's containing high internal resistance around 2ohms. One more problem is 7805 is a
linear regulator. For example
100mA at 5V then 100mA at 9V, the losing power is 4V * 100mA = 400mW (.4W) as heat. By considering
7805+9V works well and the efficiency is low (60%).
