It is a crucial to analyze the impact of religion on development of social welfare society and 
policies. It is to be noted that there are noticeable difference in the state structure of Islamic 
countries than western countries because of strong religious connotations attached. Islam 
itself push its believers to spend in charities and social welfare system by supporting the 
needy such as disable, orphans, widow, elderly people etc (Jawad, 2009). Quran, the holy 
book of Muslims also provide in-depth information on the rules; however the contradictory 
part is that the teachings are not in alignment with the welfare concept or theory given by 
Karl Marx.  
For instance, the Marxism concept of social and welfare state focuses on the importance of 
public ownership and state that religion does not give actual happiness to a man. However, 
Islam plays a crucial role in shaping the welfare system in Muslim countries as it supports the 
concept and helps in brining contribution from all (Baldock, et al., 2012).
