1.1. PMBOK’s 10 Knowledge Areas – Introduction & Background
The widely refe
ed Project Management Body of Knowledge (“PMBOK”) in the
project management domain refers to set of standardized terminologies as well as
guidelines comprising body of comprehensive knowledge concerning project
management framework (Meredith et al, 2013; Gido & Clements, 2014; Project
Management Institute, 2013).
The ten different knowledge areas and each of them containing some or else all of
processes concerning project management, are listed as follows,
i. Project Integration Management: The range of activities as well as processes that
are required for identifying, defining, combining, unifying, as well as coordinating
the varied set of processes as well as activities of project management in the
context of process groups relating to the project management (Meredith et al,

guided to closure by not exceeding the budget that has been approved (Meredith et
al, 2013; Gido & Clements, 2014; Project Management Institute, 2013).
v. Project Quality Management: The various set of processes as well as activities
concerning the specific performing organization which shall determine the
policies of quality management, affiliated objectives, as well as responsibilities
such that a specific project under management shall suitably satisfy the overall

needs towards which the same has been effectively undertaken (Meredith et al,
2013; Gido & Clements, 2014; Project Management Institute, 2013).
vi. Project Human Resources Management: The varied set of processes which shall
aid in the organization, management, as well as leading of the relevant project
team (Meredith et al, 2013; Gido & Clements, 2014; Project Management
Institute, 2013).
vii. Project Communication Management: The varied set of processes which shall aid
in making sure appropriate as well as timely form of planning, collation,
establishment, distribution, storing, retrieval, control as well as monitoring, and,
management concerning the ultimate dispositions of the overall project related
