For the first part of this assignment, you will be assigned to complete manual and electronic scheduling activities. You will then
e asked to draw comparisons between the two types of scheduling processes and form an opinion about the benefits and drawbacks of
each.
Part I – Scheduling Activities
Complete your assigned manual and electronic scheduling activities. The scheduling activities that you are required to complete
will include manual and electronic transactions for scheduling and appointment tracking. As you are completing the activities, remember
to keep track of your findings related to the similarities, differences, benefits, and potential drawbacks for each process.
Part II – Comparison of Manual and Electronic Scheduling Processes
Subsequent to completing the assigned activities from Part I, prepare a paper which compares and contrasts manual verses
electronic scheduling processes. Your paper must include your findings from Part I. In addition, your paper must include supporting
statements regarding your opinions on the similarities, differences, benefits, and potential drawbacks (if any) for each process. At the
conclusion of your paper, present your opinions about the value and importance of supporting evolving electronic technology in the
healthcare setting.
Deliverable
For Part I, the number of pages you submit may vary depending on the medical office software you are using. For Part II, submit
a two-page paper with an additional references page using APA style formatting of the citations and references.

Part I findings
The software used was Medical Office Simulation Software (MOSS) 2.0. MOSS is an
integrated patient management system, that allows a full electronic heath record (EHR) for
each patient to be produced, as well as creating a database from which billing can be easily
tracked and itemised. It is designed to integrate into several existing medical practice
management requirements, such as providing simple invoices and collections lists to tracking
patient movements and allowing integration with the HER databases that are likely to arise at
all scales from the local to national.
The first activity undertaken was a simple record of patient condition, which is
equired for initial input onto the system, before appointments can be made. There were some
advantages to doing this manually, simply with a pen and paper and talking to a patient. The
first was the level of personal interaction it created; compared to creating a record on the
