Think critically. Review for grammar and spelling errors before submitting. Use 12 size font on the areas of discussion. Headings may be of a larger font size. Points will be deducted for not meeting the minimum requirements or for not addressing necessary components. Try to make it look professional.

Instructor will grade on the following format:

1. Neatness

2. Attractive in appearance

a. Clean

b. Uncluttered look

c. Precise—not too wordy

3. Tri-Fold in appearance—as in actual brochure.

4. May use all types of media:

a. Computer graphics, etc.

Brochure contents: What to consider and may or should include—

1. Name of Fictitious Program

2. Hours of Operation
3. Ratio Information—Licensing information—number of children per adult/staff

4. Philosophy of Program—Inclusion should be addressed

5. Parents Role—Participation?

6. Goals and Objectives of Program

7. Curriculum—based on play philosophy, learning environment and learning area/centers in environment

8. Type of Program: private, state funded, federally funded, or church-based

9. Community Involvement?

10. Ages Served---(suggest ages 3 to age 5 years of age)

You must consider before preparing brochure…

1. Decide if your ‘school’ will be for children with mild or moderate disabilities, or chronic illnesses. Will you include children who are gifted? You need to decide (through research) what mild and moderate disabilities encompass—which disabilities fall into each category.

2. Decide if you will include children with chronic illnesses; for example, a child with a feeding G-tube.

3. Will you include a child who is emotionally disturbed?

Note: For every child with a disability—that equals 2 to 3 typical developing children in a classroom.
