Use the present tense.
Please include these elements.
Paragraph 1 Write a brief summary of the major events of the first half of your novel.
Paragraphs 2 and 3 Analyze one of the major characters in the first half of your novel.
Paragraph 2: What are that character’s major strengths and what situations illuminate these qualities?
Paragraph 3: What are that character’s major weaknesses and what situations reveal these qualities?
Use at least two quotations in each of these paragraphs to support your points and analysis. Be sure to include page references for each quotation
Paragraph 4 Choose one of the options below and discuss it in a paragraph. Use at least two quotations to support your analysis.
Option A: Discuss three specific conflicts that are important in your novel. Explain the nature of the conflicts (between two or more characters, two or more forces, or one character’s inner conflict).
OR
Option B: The setting is the place, time, culture, and emotional mood in which a story takes place. Explain three ways in which the setting of the first part of the novel is crucial as a source of conflict in your novel.
Paragraph 5: Discuss what major issues the first part of your novel raises. What connections can you make between this part of your novel and your prior knowledge of this issue, the course material, and the outside world: Use the first person (I) and an appropriate conversational and engaging style in writing this paragraph.
