The study aimed towards evaluating the efficiency of the inpatient rehabilitation facilities 
(IRFs) post the implementation and working of Prospective Payment Systems (PPS). The study 
also highlighted upon the high economic importance of the encouragement of increased 
efficiency in the IRF industry. The research methodology technique used in the study is known 
as Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), which is primarily a linear programming technique. This 
technique was aimed towards identifying the efficiency frontier if the IRFs as well as to assess 
the entire levels of efficiency and effectiveness with the industry. The study primarily showed 
that IRFs post the implementation of the PPS had maintained a very high level of operational 
efficiency. The results of the research clearly acknowledged that IRFs are very efficient in the 
management of their resources following the complete implementation of the PPS.
