The word swastika is derived from a Sanskrit work Swastika which once translated means wellbeing or good fortune. It has an extensive history and if tracked back Swastika was even used at least 5000 years before Adolf Hitler used it to make the Nazi flag. The motif or the hooked cross can be dated back to the Neolithic Eurasian where it was first used. The symbol basically represents the movement of the sun in the sky and is considered to be sacred in India and Indonesia. This symbol is considered to be auspicious by many religions around the world such as Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism and Odinism. Swastika had been a part of the European culture and signs can be found on
artifacts that date back to pre-Christian European culture. If we look back at history the swastika always represented the symbol of sun, strength, good luck and power. This symbol again started gaining attention during the nineteenth century because of the growing interest to the near east and India.
