Assignment 1:
(45 points) By definition, a graduate-level research paper provides a discussion of the content in the scholarly article from peer-reviewed sources where research was performed using relevant keywords. Do a research on the UMGC li
ary for scholarly articles related to the below question, and then answer the below question.
Question 1: What is the difference between Hadoop HDFS and NoSQL DB?
· APA formatting of the paper including citations and references is worth 9 points. One point off for each e
or.
· Each scholarly article from peer-reviewed sources from the UMGC li
ary is worth two points for a maximum of 8 points.
· Content relevant to the research topic is worth 10 points. Distinguished (10), Advanced (8), Proficient (6), Basic (4), or Unacceptable (2).
· Page length between two and three pages for the Content/Discussion section is worth 9 points, net (9) or unmet (0). The References section is not included in the word count.
· Proper spelling, punctuation, and grammar are worth 9 points. One point off for each e
or.
Warning:
Wikipedia and sites such as blogs are not scholarly sources and will result in a zero grade for APA citation and references. You should use the UMGC li
ary to perform graduate-level research for scholarly articles from peer-reviewed sources. Therefore, use only references from the UMGC li
ary for all research in this assignment. This assignment will be submitted to Turnitin; therefore, similarity index should not exceed 10%.

CouchDB
It can be defined as an open source database which was developed by the Apache foundation. The motive of developing this database was to make it easier for the users to use it and em
ace the web. It is a type of NoSQL database which stores the documents. It stores the data in a JSON file format and uses the java script as the language to perform the query and transform the document (Somya, R.). It can be understood as a multi-master application which was released in 2005.
The usage of CouchDB:
1) It has REST API which is based on the HTTP and allows to establish the communication between the database. The structure of resources and methods of the HTTP is simple which makes it easier to understand and use.
2) The data is stored in a document-based structure which is flexible in nature.
3) It allows powerful mapping of the data. The user can run queries, combine the data, and filter the information as per the requirement.
4) The CouchDB makes it easier to copy, share and synchronize the data among machines and databases.
Data Model
· The outer most containers of the CouchDB is the database.
· Each database can be defined as a collection of independent documents.
· The document must manage their own data and schema.
· The metadata of document contains the revision information which allows the user to merge the differences which occu
ed when the databases were not connected.
The couchdb is document storage database and belongs to the NoSQL family. It allows to store the documents using unique names and also provides the restful API which allows their reading and updating of documents present in the database.
CouchBase
The couchbase can be defined as the result of merging 2 NoSQL technologies which are membase and couchDB. The membase is used to provide persistence, application and sharding of the higher performance and couchdb is used to pioneer the document-oriented model which is based on Json. The meme base and couchdb follows a ground up approach and have a highly distributed architecture which allows sharding the data across multiple machines present in a cluster. The membase follows Memcached protocol which allows to provide migrating the existing Memcached users. It provides the sharding and fault resilience for the familiar model of Memcached.
The CouchDB is used to provide support to the database to store Jason document and use a simple restful API to access these documents (Băzăr, C., & Iosif, C. S). The CouchDB has better and highly tuned storage engine which is optimised to support the update transaction and processing of queries.
The couchbase server uses Json documents which represents the objects of application and the relationship among those objects. The Json document model is flexible and allows us to change the object of the application without migrating the schema or any plan for the downtime of application. the couchbase server supports scalability between the different data centers and...
