Introduction
The assessment tasks for CHCCOM003 Develop workplace communication strategies
are outlined in the assessment plan below. These tasks have been designed to help
you demonstrate the skills and knowledge that you have learnt during your course.
Please ensure that you read the instructions provided with these tasks carefully. You
should also follow the advice provided in the Student User Guide. The Student Guide
provides important information for you relating to completing assessment successfully.
Assessment Requirements
Performance Evidence
The candidate must show evidence of the ability to complete tasks outlined in
elements and performance criteria of this unit, manage tasks and manage
contingencies in the context of the job role. There must be demonstrated evidence
that the candidate has:
developed and presented 1 new communication strategy and associated
protocols for a business unit or team
developed and implemented 1 strategy for using digital media to provide
information and promote organisation to clients
Knowledge Evidence
The candidate must be able to demonstrate essential knowledge required to
effectively complete tasks outlined in elements and performance criteria of this unit,
manage the task and manage contingencies in the context of the work role. This
includes knowledge of:
political, economic, social and technological factors
competitors
stakeholders
organisational business and strategic plans
SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats)
legal and ethical considerations relating to communication:
privacy, confidentiality and disclosure

Assessment Conditions
Skills must have been demonstrated in the workplace or in a simulated environment
that reflects workplace conditions. The following conditions must be met for this unit:
use of suitable facilities, equipment and resources, including use of real workplace
policies and procedures
modelling typical workplace conditions, including:
interactions with clients and co-workers from a range of diverse backgrounds
presentations to groups of at least 3 people
typical workplace reporting processes
use of presentation media
Assessors must satisfy the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs)
2015/AQTF mandatory competency requirements for assessors.

Assessment details
There are two assessment tasks/methods of evidence gathering. You are required to
complete them all. Your trainer /assessor will advise when assessments are due.
You may use various sources of learning materials including text books, student guide,
other documents and the internet. For you to be assessed as competent, you must
successfully complete the following assessment tasks:
Assessment Task 1: Workplace project – You are to develop and present a new
communication strategy and associated protocols for a business unit or team that
you lead.
Assessment Task 2: Workplace project – You are to develop and present a digital
media communication strategy and associated protocols to provide information
and promote your organisation to clients.

Assessment Task 1: Workplace project
Task Summary
This is a workplace project – you can use a various learning resources including
online materials, student guide and other reference resources available at the
TasCollege to complete your task if required.
You are to develop and present a new communication strategy and associated
protocols for a business unit or team that you lead.
You must complete and submit an Assessment Cover Sheet with your
assessment submission.
Write your answers in the space provided in the relevant templates or you
need to type and print a hard copy to submit (as per your trainer /assessor
advice).
The assessment task is due on the date specified by your traine
assessor.

Instructions
In this task, you are required to demonstrate your skills and knowledge by
developing a communication strategy for a business unit or work team.
You will, therefore, develop a communication strategy, establish supporting
communication protocols and present information about these.
This assessment task will take place in the classroom but will be based on a team
in your workplace or work placement organisation.
The presentation component of the assessment will be made to your assessor
and at least two of your classmates as if your assessor is a member of your team.
The communication strategy and protocol that you develop for the team is up
to you, but it must be relevant to your team’s needs.
It might be a protocol for handover, it could relate to the way that your team
develops care plans for individual clients or it might relate to the way that your
team communicates with external service providers.
It is recommended that you liaise with your assessor and your workplace
supervisor to refine your idea before getting started on the assessment tasks.
You will need access to:
a Team communication protocol and strategy
a copy of the resources which support their presentation.
