Skill Analysis (Self-Awareness)
1. Communication Skill
Communication skill is one of the very important skills, which is required in every aspect of the life. It has been seen that communication is one of the important elements in the day-to-day life whether it is in professional life or personal life (Feraco et al. 2016). Communication skills can be defined as the skills, which facilitate the communication. Mostly communication is done ve
ally but it is not the only way of communication. We can do the communication using ve
al, non-ve
al and written method. In non-ve
al communication, people can use the body language, signs and gestures to interact with others.
One of the critical aspects of the communication is active listening. It has been seen that listening can help in solving many issues in professional and personal life (Neuner-Jehle and Gruninger, 2016). It is important to see that communication can be helpful in clearing all kinds of misunderstanding. For example, I was working in an organisation as with the intention to maintain health and safety. In office, my supervisor asks one of my associates to complete the excel sheet, but my associate failed to listen him carefully. This resulted in making my supervisor angry and he scolded him. I observe the situation and first communicate with my associate to find out the reason responsible for the issue and later talk to supervisor to clear the issue.
2. Problem-Solving Skill
Problem-solving skill is a very helpful skill, which individual can apply in any situation whether it is personal or profession. It has been seen that the use of problem-solving skills is mostly done in the professional life. There are various situations, which are either foreseen or occu
ed suddenly in the organisation. The individuals with strong problem-solving skills can smoothly handle any kind of situation arises in the organisation (Kim and Shim, 2018). For example, when we are handling any project, it has been seen that various ba
iers occur in completion of the project such as supplier suddenly raises the price of the raw material, which resulted in affecting the budget of the project.
There are certain other issues arising and requiring skills to handle them. Problem-solving skills are also helpful in negotiation in the business (Kageyama et al. 2017). For example, there was one project where two teams of separate department need to work in collaboration for the timely completion of the project. This required strong teamwork. It has been seen that both the teams have differently ideology and showing ego while conduction of the project. Thus, I organised the team-building exercises to solve the issues between team. Later, both the team work cordially and complete the entire project on time.
3. Leadership Skill
Leadership skill can be defined as the skill, which is used to make an individual as leader in its field. It has been seen that most of the business organisation hire individuals who have leadership skills and work efficiently as leaders in their field. Although there has not any kind of hiring for the leadership position; however, individuals who are hired at managerial positions or at top positions of the organisation are expected to behave like a leader (Moodie, 2016). Having leadership skills in business organisation helps the individual in getting growth and development at its workplace. It has been seen that leader is an individual who deal with the complete team, pursue staff to follow them and support individuals equally.
Any individual can become leader when they have developed leadership skills in them (Halverson et al. 2017). For example, one day I was working on a project along with five other people. Our manager called our entire team and told us that the project we were working on has major blunder and we have developed wrong framework using budget, as budget was low. We had already spent most of the money in buying the material and we need to complete the project in very little time and amount. Everyone in the team was panic. I stand up and encourage everyone to give ideas to solve the issue instead of getting panic....
