Introduction
The existing healthcare requires policy compliance, workforce efficiency, administrative effectiveness and timeline constraints. The automation systems like Internet of Things (IoT) can make the life more comfortable and easier than ever before (Varma & Srinivas, 2015). IoT is an innovation which connects different physical objects, buildings, vehicles, buildings with help of sensors, actuators, network connectivity and software providing the internet connectivity anywhere and anytime. 
Smart homes refer to homes equipped with automated activities like remotely controlling the ventilation, lighting, heating, air conditioning, and security of the house (Luigi et al, 2010). The IoT control system allows the objects to control and sense remote physical objects around us with the automated systems, leading to improved accuracy, accessibility and efficiency without any human intervention.
Rationale 
Problem Domain- Absence of Automated Monitoring may raise severe security risks for the safety and well being of homes and the vulnerable people (old age parents or children) living inside them. In today’s era when most of the young adults work in multinational Companies in distant countries, it often renders old age parents to live alone in their homes. Moreover the existing electronic devices and framework consumes lot of energy and cost.
Purpose and justification: The main purpose of implementing IoT in Smart homes is to reduce cost and save energy, to make the life more convenient and more comfortable. The gadgets at home can be controlled, monitored and accessed from anywhere in the world. IoT bridges the existing gap between the technology’s capability and the human limitations. The Smart Homes will have increased security and surveillance, and ability to make intelligent decisions.
Research Questions:  The research questions which need to be satisfied before implementing IoT in Smart homes are as follows:
