Unit 6: Discussion Introduction In this LearnScape, the student is the Director of Quality Improvement for Bright Road Health Care System. The student’s team is in the process of establishing policies and procedures to ensure health law compliance. The student must work with team members to create policies and procedures that address the requirements, determine who the changes impact the most, and work with those people to develop a comprehensive communication strategy. Note: It is assumed that the healthcare policy developed in LearnScape for Health Policy, episodes 1 and 2, became a bill, and then ultimately passed and signed into law by the President. When new healthcare laws are passes this results in the new regulations. It is the responsibility of healthcare leaders to ensure that their in-house policies are in alignment with the regulations. Sometimes this only requires minor revisions to existing policies and slight adjustments to internal procedures. potential solution.
Topic 1: Nursing care in a medical unit
The quality of nursing care is one of the critical performance parameters for any healthcare
organization. The parameters of measuring the quality of nursing care have transformed lately
due to changes in healthcare policies. The quality of nursing care improves with monitoring and
evaluating various metrics. The nonconformities should be identified to improve overall nursing
care quality (American Sentinel University, 2011). Since last decade, many methods have been
developed for measuring the nursing care quality. The clinical dashboard is one such measure
which is highly effective in improving the nursing care quality. Clinical Dashboard combines
multiple measures which affect nursing care quality. It is important to choose patient-centric
measures in these dashboards to ensure the adherence to healthcare policies (Royal college of
nursing, 2012). These metrics should aim at developing five core competencies in the nursing
staff – to provide patient-centered care, work in interprofessional teams, to employ evidence-
ased practice, to apply quality improvement and to utilize informatics.
The purpose of these dashboards is to engage and empower the nursing staff. However, one of
the possible weaknesses of clinical dashboards is that they could be perceived...
