DIRECTIONS TO STUDENTS
1. The Assessment is comprised of five (5) short essay/answer questions
2. Each question is worth 10 marks each for a total of 50 marks.
3. Students will be marked according to the following criteria:
· Demonstrated appreciation and understanding of the topics of questions
· Ability to define important concepts
· Provision of adequate explanation of concepts, using references and examples
· Critical analysis of the concepts, linking them to other, relevant concepts
4. Further information regarding the Assessment and tips to inform student responses will be provided throughout the session.
5. Submit your solution by the due date using the template provided.
6. This assessment has been set up to be checked by Turnitin, a tool which helps you check whether you have referenced co
ectly.
7. You can submit your assessment prior to the due date and Turnitin will give you an originality report.
8. Use your own words, provide your own examples and draw your own diagrams.
9. You may then make any changes that may be required and resubmit your version by the due date

QUESTION 1 (10 marks)
Identify and describe the major components and characteristics of a system, according to Systems Theory, using either a school OR a university college as an example.
QUESTION 2 (10 marks)
What is the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and how does it relate to WUCB113 and the study of human centred systems? Your response should discuss the purpose of the analysis and design stages in particular.
QUESTION 3 (10 marks)
What is design thinking, and what benefits does this approach offer? Your response should discuss the value of teamwork as it relates to the concept you developed in Assessment 3 system redesign concept. How can your experience working on the redesign help you to apply for a human cented design related job?
QUESTION 4 (10 marks)
Reflect on the relevance of systems thinking to the study of business information systems, using an example system to support your response (your example could include your Assessment 3 system redesign concept). Your response should define operations management, and describe the link between operations management and strategy.
QUESTION 5 (10 marks)
Identify and describe the main categories associated with the study of ethics and regulation in the systems design, as presented in this subject. Your response should provide example resources or frameworks that relate to each category.
