1. Overview
Employability is the state of having the skills and knowledge that enable you to achieve (graduate)
employment and being able to thrive in your chosen profession. Planning and developing your
career is a life skill made significantly easier if you adopt an appropriate employability asset model.
In this assessment, you will
• undertake an audit of your knowledge and skills to identify weaknesses (or to identify
missing evidence for that knowledge and skills) and to create a career development plan to
address any issues,
• evidence your understanding of the recruitment process and the different stages of a typical
job application (e.g. CV, cover letter, psychometric testing, video interview, assessment
centres, and final interview), and
• create an e-portfolio that provides evidence of the discipline knowledge, professional
knowledge, soft skills, and personal attributes required by employers in your chosen
profession.
Your Employability Portfolio submission is made up of four elements:
A. Employability Asset Model (20%)

FAILURE TO SUBMIT CORRECTLY WILL RESULT IN A MARK OF ZERO

There are four components to your assessment: the Employability Asset Model (20%), The
Recruitment Process (40%), the Employability Portfolio (40%) and the Extra Miles (optional).
The Employability Asset Model component and the Recruitment Process component are auto-
submitted via the Pe
lepad workbooks you have completed in Activity 1 and Activity 2 of the
Employability Studio workshops. Provided that you have saved your workbooks periodically, no
further action needs be taken to submit these components.
However, for your Employability Portfolio and each of your Extra Miles items, a public URL must be
created and entered into your Submission Log Word document which you should then submit via
Canvas i.e. YOU MUST TAKE ADDITIONAL ACTION to submit the Employability Portfolio (40%) and
the Extra Miles components. The Submission Log can be downloaded from the following link:
Submission Log
Completing the Submission Log
• You should put your name and ID number in the first table.
• You should put the public URL* of your portfolio in the second table. (If you have any additional
comments you want to make to the assessor, you can put these in the last row.)
• You should put your LinkedIn account URL into the third table.
• Each Extra Mile item should be embedded as a story in your portfolio i.e. has a title, a
descriptive and reflective na
ative, and evidence (or link to evidence). The public URLs of your
Extra Mile stories* should be put in the remaining tables in the Submission Log as appropriate.
MAKE SURE ANYONE CAN ACCESS YOUR URLS WITHOUT THE NEED FOR AUTHENTICATION ON
ANY PLATFORM.
* If you are submitting a Pe
lepad portfolio, you must use the Pe
lepad dashboard to generate
a public URL - see the "How to generate a public URL for your Pe
lepad portfolio" video i.e.
Task 5 of Activity 4 in the Employability Studio workshops.
* To find the public URL of an Extra Mile story, visit your portfolio using its public URL, navigate to
your story, and then copy the URL from the address bar.
Submitting the Submission Log
Once you have populated the Submission Log, you should upload this document to the Canvas
Employability Portfolio assignment by the published deadline.
