It has been a great move towards electronic health system (EHR) in order to reach at the 
level of global connectedness in medical field for getting right information about the patients. 
The purpose of introducing much needed IT enabled moves in the health care industry of U.S is 
to realize the effectiveness of other resources invested into it. Paper records were not capable of 
providing instant knowledge about the history of patient’s health which increases the time span 
of medical treatment given to the patient. Introducing new medical systems helps in meeting 
goals and concerns of healthcare system such as cost reduction and raising the level of quality. It 
has been observed that new system introduced leads to saving of up to $81 Billion in healthcare 
industry by reducing the haphazard and number of medical errors due to lack of proper 
information. 
The initial fixed cost of implementing high IT enabled technology into the system 
remains high which acts as the disincentive for small hospitals to use EHR and similar technical 
system in their offices. It results into digital divide as entire system does not get the connectivity 
through single track and networking. The main reason is lower investment returns in the short 
run which trembles the entire budget of medical organisations.
