MODULE 1 AUTONOMIC NERVOUS SYSTEM REPROGRAMING
2 | P a g e
INTRODUCTION
The Postgraduate Certificate in Autonomic Nervous System Reprograming (ANSR) is probably the most
important leg of your training as a Meditation Therapist. During your studies of the Certificate in Meditation
Teaching and Holistic Human Development, you studied the basics of meditation and how to teach it to
people with different learning styles and in various settings. You became familiar with the cause and effects
of stress through the Fight-or-Flight response and you explored the foundations of happiness and how to
support people in integrating more happiness into their lives through holistic counselling.
The Postgraduate Certificate in Autonomic Nervous System Reprograming is the first compulsory module in
the Diploma of Meditation Therapy and Holistic Counselling. It will lead you deeper into understanding
meditation beyond a practice and more as a healing modality. It will provide you with evidence-based and
scientifically proven information that will give you a high level of professional skill when it comes to assisting
people to succeed on their own healing journeys, regardless of whether the ailment they seek to heal is
manifested in a physical, mental or emotional form.
On completion of this module you will be confident in your ability to teach Autonomic Nervous System
Reprograming to students in groups and to individual clients in private consultation. You will be able to apply
your knowledge to assist your students and clients in overcoming any condition they may present you with
from anxiety and depression to serious and life threatening illness.
Combined with the preliminary certificate level studies you have already completed and blended with any
further postgraduate modules you undertake, the Postgraduate Certificate in Autonomic Nervous System
Reprograming is key in transforming you from a Meditation Teacher to a Meditation Therapist.
Right here at the beginning of this module I am going to make a bold statement, the rest of this course will
provide you with the information, explanations and evidence that will qualify this statement.
The statement is:
We have access to a great many healing modalities both in conventional and complementary medicine but
without the application of Autonomic Nervous System Reprograming none of them can ever completely
and permanently heal any illness. However, when Autonomic Nervous System Reprograming is used to
combat disease and illness of any kind, no other modality will be required to heal the person completely
and permanently.
This predominantly physiological module is about the environment that exists within our bodies on a cellular
level. The combination of science based research and holistic psychology that provides the foundation for
Autonomic Nervous System Reprograming is incredibly exciting and offers us new hope in effective holistic
healing.
HOW YOU WILL BE ABLE TO USE AUTONOMIC NERVOUS SYSTEM REPROGRAMING
As with all therapies and healing modalities used and taught through the Certificate level course, Autonomic
Nervous System Reprograming is a self-empowering, self-administered healing tool and a very powerful one
at that!
As therapists we do not heal our clients or students; we have the great privilege of teaching them how to
heal themselves.
1. You will develop a firm understanding of what the Autonomic Nervous System is and how it affects the
ody both positively and negatively. You will come to see the role it plays in wellness, disease and
healing.
2. You will learn how the Autonomic Nervous System can be controlled or reprogramed using simple
techniques to create a healthier physical environment, overcome illness and promote healing.
3. You will learn how to teach Autonomic Nervous System Reprograming to your students and clients
through classes, workshops and private consultations.

4. You will also learn several very effective tools to use in assisting your clients and students to access deep
seated, negative belief systems and reprogram them into more positive and health affirming mental and
emotional programs.
THE STUDY OF THE ANS (AUTONOMIC NERVOUS SYSTEM)
Throughout this module you will learn a great deal about the anatomy of the
ain and how it works from a
physiological perspective. You will also learn about the chemicals the
ain releases, or signals other organs
in the body to release, what they do and how they assist our bodies to remain strong and healthy.
You will come to understand what triggers the
ain to release these chemicals and that when these
chemicals are released into our bodies in the perfect amounts and in the right conditions they keep the body
in optimum health. You will also see how an excess of, and imbalances in these chemicals cause ill health and
disease.
The information in this course is scientifically proven and evidence based. It will give you an excellent healing
tool that can completely revolutionize the way we look at health, healing and the treatment of disease.
DR BRUCE LIPTON
Dr Bruce Lipton (born 21 October 1944) is an American developmental biologist
est known for promoting the idea that genes and DNA can be manipulated by a
person's beliefs. He is also a visiting fellow lecturer at the New Zealand College of
Chiropractic.
Much of the research conducted into Epigenetics, the Biology of Belief and the
science that proves our DNA, our genes and our cells can be reprogramed through
our thought processes has been delivered to the world by Dr Lipton, who has
ecome known as a pioneer in The New Biology.

LANGUAGE
Following is a list of words you will encounter during this course and will need to be familiar with in your role
as an ANSR Therapist. It is highly recommended that you read over them often and memorize their
meanings.
Understanding this language will be valuable to you as you study and research this subject and to some
extent when you teach ANSR to your students and clients, though you won’t always be using scientific terms
when working with laymen. It will be invaluable to you when you find yourself discussing this remarkable
subject with any person who has a scientific background (particularly doctors and other healthcare
professionals). Your confidence and professionalism will be greatly enhanced when you are fluent in the
language of biology.
Epigenetics - the study of changes in organisms caused by modification of gene expression rather than
alteration of the genetic code itself.
Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) - the part of the nervous system responsible for control of the bodily
functions not consciously directed, such as
eathing, the heartbeat and digestive processes.
Brainstem - the central trunk of the mammalian
ain, consisting of the medulla oblongata, pons, and
mid
ain, and continuing downward to form the spinal cord.
Cerebellum - the part of the
ain at the back of the skull in verte
ates. Its function is to coordinate and
egulate muscular activity.

Hippocampus - the elongated ridges on the floor of each lateral ventricle of the
ain, thought to be the
centre of emotion, memory, and the autonomic nervous system.
Amygdala - a roughly almond-shaped mass of grey matter inside each cere
al hemisphere, involved with
the experiencing of emotions.
Hypothalamus - a region of the fore
ain below the thalamus that coordinates both the autonomic nervous
system and the activity of the pituitary, controlling body temperature, thirst, hunger, and other homeostatic
systems, and involved in sleep and emotional activity.
Pituitary gland - the major endocrine gland. A pea-sized body attached to the base of the
ain, the pituitary
is important in controlling growth and development and the functioning of the other endocrine glands.
Endocrine system - the collection of glands of an organism that secrete hormones directly into the
circulatory system to be ca
ied toward a distant target organ.
Endocrine Glands - are glands of the endocrine system that secrete their products, hormones, directly into
the blood rather than through a duct.
Adrenal Glands - small glands located on top of each kidney. They produce hormones that you can't live
without, including sex hormones and cortisol.
Cere
al Hemispheres - the
ain is formed by two cere
al hemispheres that are separated by a groove,
known as the medial longitudinal fissure. The
ain can therefore be described as being divided into left
