Prompt 1: A famous actress (Lily) accused a well-known professional athlete (Samuel) of sexual assault. This was not the the first accusation against Samuel; another woman made a similar accusation against him several years ago. That case was settled out of court. Lily made the allegations to a newspaper of a large city. The paper then printed the allegations in its print and digital editions. Samuel's lawyer wrote a letter in response. The letter included denials of the accusation and called Lily a "habitual liar" who has a "history of careless and risky behavior."
Lily sued Samuel for defamation. Please analyze whether Lily's claim is likely to succeed. Include (1) an analysis of the elements of Lily's case, (2) any relevant defenses that Samuel might have, and as noted above (3) analyze the case law and factors from two relevant cases.
