Referencing
APA7 is the required referencing style for this assessment task. Please ensure that you are familiar with the formatting and usage requirements for this style. The Academic Skills Unit and Li
ary have resources to help with referencing.
Turnitin: Turnitin is a tool used to assist in the detection of referencing problems and/or plagiarism. Turnitin generates a similarity index for a document: that is, what percentage of the document contains material that is matched to accessible sources. Presence of similarity does not necessarily indicate plagiarism: there are many reasons why similar text is discovered in student documents. For example, Turnitin often classifies reference lists themselves as “similar”- this is similarity, but not plagiarism.
Assessment Policies and Procedures
Students should make themselves familiar with the University’s Assessment Procedures https:
www.acu.edu.au/handbook/handbook-2021/policies-and-general-information/assessment---policy-and-procedure/assessment-procedures
This link outlines how to apply for an extension or special consideration (under ‘Student responsibilities’ and ‘Processes when personal circumstances affect performance’). Extension requests (if you have a valid reason), should be emailed to the Lecturer-in-Charge, prior to the due date. Special consideration applications should be emailed to XXXXXXXXXX AND the Lecturer-in-Charge.
Note: Extension and Special consideration request forms are available under the Assessment Tile on LEO.
Please note that marks will be deducted for late submission of assignments (without an approved extension or special consideration), as per University policy. The policy states: “Assessment tasks submitted after the due or extended date will incur, for each whole or part of a calendar day that the work is overdue, a 5% penalty of the maximum marks available for that assessment task up to a maximum of 15%.
Assessment tasks received more than three calendar days after the due or extended date will not be allocated a mark.”
Marking criteria
In line with ACU’s Assessment Policy, all assessment marking and grading must be criterion-referenced and use standards-based grading. Assessment criteria and standards are related to unit learning outcomes. Student performance on a task is evaluated against each criterion, and according to the set standards of achievement for that criterion. Assessment criteria and standards for this task are provided in the following ru
ic. Each criterion is marked according to a five-point standard, from “poor” to “excellent”, with a descriptor for each standard. Within each standard there is a small marking range that further differentiates. Your final mark for the task reflects evaluation against all criteria.
See the ru
ic below for the marking criteria.
Learning outcomes assessed:
1. Define public health and outline its core functions and role in improving the health of the community
2. Describe the major public health challenges in Australia and internationally, and what role public health can play in addressing these challenges
3. Analyse the impact of diverse factors - such as gender, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic factors - on population health, especially in terms of inequities in health

Introduction
Physical activity is considered the movements of the body that consume energy and are conducted by skeletal muscles. The dearth of physical activity is a central driver for the establishment of chronic ailments. Dementia, osteoporosis, cardiovascular disorders, and impaired glucose tolerance are more prevalent among populations who do not engage in regular exercise (Amini et al., 2021). Physical activity reinforces the immune system, strengthens the musculoskeletal system and psychiatric health, and reduces other possible hazards such as being overweight or obese, having high blood cholesterol, and hypertension. Physical activity is a key factor contributing to the nation's disease burden. Australians should ensure a healthy amount of physical activity as it plays a significant role in long-term conditions (Nau et al., 2019).
This paper explores the nature and background of the lack of physical activity in Australia, vulnerable populations, health equity repercussions, important players, approaches, and steps to address physical inactivity in the country.

Public Health Issues
Lack of physical activity was responsible for 2.5 percent of the country's massive disease burden in 2015. Individual disorder burden based on physical inactivity has been 10–20 percent for endometrial carcinoma,
east carcinoma, dementia, bowel carcinoma, diabetes, coronary heart disorders, and stroke. Over half of the Australian population is actively involved in sedentary behaviour. Several people in Australia stop functioning due to diverse factors such as injuries, negative health, and time constraints. Several individuals spend hours lazing and sitting around, owing to the nature of their jobs and the extent of screen time they have. About half of all working adults (44 percent) spend the significant of their work shift seated (Wilson et al., 2018).
Furthermore, as per recent studies, over one-quarter of the globe's adult individuals (28 percent, or nearly 1.4 billion adults) have been insufficiently active. Nevertheless, in certain provinces, one in every three adult individuals is sedentary. COVID-19 has placed new hurdles on regular exercise, primarily in sporting activities. Due to wellness issues and restrictions – including lockdowns, gymnasium and school closures – People in Australia had to modify their activity levels and duration. Kids have sustained even more as a consequence of this. Research demonstrated that approximately 3 in every four adult individuals were supposed to stay active till 2020, whilst only one in every 6 kids did (Rosenbaum et al., 2018).

Vulnerable Population
Physical activity practises are shaped by both personal attributes and the cultural setting. Demographic factors, including sexual identity, ethnic group, socioeconomic status (like wealth and education), and age, discern whether an individual is insufficiently physically active (Wilson et al., 2018). Violence, dense traffic, negative air quality, a lack of parklands, walking paths, and recreational areas, and pollution have all been instances of environmental aspects that may discourage individuals from exercising regularly as an outcome of rising u
an expansion. As a consequence, u
an populations had more vehicles, road transportation, and roadways than rural residents, minimising the employment of walking or biking for transportation and leisure. Their places are more heavily populated, and they also have few or no outdoor recreational facilities (Woessner et al., 2021).
Furthermore, they increase exposure to foodservice sales promotion through the mainstream press, which can also modify user preferences beyond everyday meals....
